The Hakgala Mountain lies at a height of 2,169 meters above sea level in Nuwara Eliya. Most parts of the mountain are covered with forest belonging to the Hakgala Strict Nature Reserve. The Hakgala Botanical Garden is situated on the northeastern slope of the Hakgala Mountain.
